COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Five Mountain West Conference Student-Athletes were named to GTE At-Large Academic All-District teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). BYU's Susan Taylor and San Diego State's Meredith Johnson were named to the first team, while BYU's Kirsten Bolm and UNLV's Katarina Malec were second-team selections in District VIII. SDSU's Johnson competed in the sport of Crew, a non-sponsored Mountain West Conference Sport. Wyoming's Marie Le Jour earned first-team honors in District VII.

Taylor, a senior from Salt Lake City, Utah, recently won the 1,500-meter run at the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Durham, N.C. Bolm, a senior from Scheebel, Germany, earned All-America honors as she placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles. Malec, a senior from Warsaw, Poland, advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship and in the process became only UNLV's second All-American in the sport.

Le Jour, a sophomore from Pierrefonds, Quebec, Canada, placed third in the discus, fourth in the shot put and sixth in the hammer throw at the 2000 Mountain West Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, must be a starter on the team and be in at least their second season at the school. The spring at-large team included student-athletes from the sports of tennis, track and field, golf and crew.
