SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Vanessa Mortensen's run in the hammer throw came to an end this morning when she finished 10th in the finals with a throw of 190-7 here at the NCAA Championships.

"We are disappointed that Vanessa didn't make it further than she did," said head coach Kyle Kepler. "She made it further than she had in previous tries and we're proud of how well she represented the University of Utah. Vanessa had an outstanding senior season and now she'll head off to the European championships where we're sure bigger things are ahead of her."

Mortensen qualified for the finals with a throw of 202-4 in the prelims this past Thursday. She was one of two Utes to qualify for the championships as Amanda Feigt made it in the 400m hurdles. She finished fifth in her heat of the prelims, clocking it in 1:00.70.
