Fort Collins, COLO. - Colorado State track and field assistant coach Brian Bedard was recently named the 2005 USTFCCCA (United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association) Midwest Region Women's coach of the Year.

Bedard is the throws coach for the Rams, which is one of the top throws programs in the nation on an annual basis. This season, the Rams have four student-athletes competing at the NCAA Championship in the throws, including top-ranked Loree Smith in the hammer, fourth-ranked Adam Trainor in the hammer and Jace Rivera and Katie Hansen in the hammer and discus, respectively. The Rams had 13 student-athletes qualify for the NCAA Regionals in six throwing events (men's and women's shot put, men's and women's discus and men's and women's hammer), the second most in the nation behind UCLA.

Colorado State concludes its 2005 season with the NCAA Championships this week, June 8-11, at Sacramento State. Other regional award winners with Bedard are listed below:
