ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - University of New Mexico sophomore Matt Bishop was recently selected to the second team of the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District VI University Men's Track and Field/Cross Country Team. A Biology major, Bishop has compiled a 3.88 grade point average in his two years at UNM. The former Eldorado (Albuquerque) High School stand-out was an Academic all-Mountain West Conference selection in 2001 and was one of the Lobos1 top performers in the 110 and 400-meter hurdles this past spring.

Bishop owned the team1s top two 110m hurdles times this spring and finished sixth in the event at the 2002 MWC Outdoor Championships. This season, Bishop notched six top-five finishes and clocked career-bests of 14.69 in the 110m hurdles and 52.33 in the 400m hurdles.
