LARAMIE, Wyo. - For the second year in a row, the University of Wyoming's Robin Lyons earned All America honors in the hammer throw by finishing third with a throw of 63.02 at the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships held in Durham, N.C.

Lyons (Sr., Panoka, Alberta) is the current UW recordholder in the event, and had finished in fourth place at the 1999 NCAA Championships.

Dana Dillon (Sr., Lovell, Wyo.), and Julie Thomas (So., Douglasville, Ga.), also qualified in the hammer throw for the second straight year. Dillon finished in tenth place with a throw of 57.78, also earning All America honors, while Thomas followed her teammates with a throw of 54.58 to finish 16th overall. The top eight overall finishers, as well as the top eight Americans, earn All America designation.

"I felt like our experience really gave us a lot of confidence today. Robin had another great competitive effort and had her second-best throw of the season today. As a senior, it was Dana's last NCAA appearance and she turned in a great performance. She came into the championships rated 19th. So I'm very pleased. The women's team is on pace to finish in the Top 25 and that is our goal," said Larry Judge, head coach of the University of Wyoming men's and women's track and field teams.

Twenty collegians participated in the women's hammer throw, which was won by defending champion Florence Ezeh of SMU with a throw of 64.58, followed by Melissa Price of Nebraska (64.24).
