CSU Runner Is Fastest Citizen The Denver Post Feature Story
May 28, 2002
By Carl Rose and John Meyer BOULDER, Colo. - The surprise winner of the Bolder Boulder 10K citizens race Monday was Dylan Olchin, a Colorado State University junior from Granby. He finished in 30 minutes, 49 seconds, seven seconds off his sea-level 10,000-meter personal best set his freshman year. "I told my coach (Del Hessel) at CSU I was trying for this race," Olchin said. "I redshirted this year's track season to train and told everyone before I came out that I wanted to win it." Guerra Olchin, 20, delivered on his promise and also was the Colorado Cup champion, awarded to the first resident across the line. He was alone after the 5K mark and won comfortably over Jens Bormann of Germany (31:15) and Western State graduate Nelson Laux (31:32) of Gunnison.
