2002 McLeodUSA MWC Outdoor Track & Field Championships Begin Wednesday Event to be held May 15-18 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 2002 McLeodUSA Mountain West Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place Wednesday-Saturday, May 15-18 on the campus of the Air Force Academy. The championships will begin with the heptathlon and decathlon Wednesday and Thursday, May 15-16, starting at 11 a.m. MDT. Friday's competition starts with the men's hammer throw at 10:30 a.m., with most field events starting at 12:00 noon, and the track event qualifying rounds at 1:00 p.m. Friday's competition concludes with the men's and women's 10,000-meter runs ending approximately 6:15 p.m. The women's hammer throw kicks things off Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m., with the majority of the field events starting at 11:00 a.m. and the finals in the track events commencing with the 4x100-meter relay at 1:00 p.m. Saturday's competition concludes with the men's and women's 4x400-meter relays at approximately 4:30 p.m. Award presentations will take place at the conclusion of competition each day. BYU will attempt to capture its third straight men's and women's titles after winning back-to-back championships in Provo, Utah in 2000 and in San Diego last year.
Admission to the championship on Wednesday and Thursday is free to the public. Tickets for the final two days of competition can be purchased through the Air Force Athletic Department ticket office in the Cadet Field House or at the Falcon Track and Field Complex. Prices for daily admissions are $6 for adults and $3 for high school students and children ages 17 and under.
