CSU Track Competes In Final Tuneup Before Hosting the MWC Two CSU Track & Field Records fall On Saturday.
May 6, 2005 FORT COLLINS, Colo. - In the last tune-up meet before the Mountain West Conference Championship, several Rams headed south to compete in the Ris Westen Air Force Twilight Invitational. Senior Katrice Thomas won the 400 meters, posting a season-best time of 54.51, while sophomore Rachelle Mims finished second in the 100 meter hurdles after crossing the finish line in 14.51. Sophomore Stacy Hancock placed second in the long jump and junior Jill McKenzie and Hancock finished third and fourth, respectively in the triple jump. Freshman Stacey Poulos threw a personal best 174-0 in the hammer throw -- surpassing her previous best by over 11 feet -- to win the event, while senior Kristina Glawe finished third in the same event. For the men, senior Tom Waido was victorious in both the 110 meter hurdles and 400 hurdles, posting a season-best 14.74 in the 110 hurdles and a season-best 53.76 in the 400 hurdles -- bettering his times by 0.13 and 1.64, respectively. Junior David Hoesly was second in the 400 hurdles and fifth in the 110 hurdles, while junior Chris Grapsas was sixth in the 200 meters. Colorado State will host the Mountain West Conference Championship next
week. The heptathlon/decathlon will be on Wednesday and Thursday, with
admission being free to those events. The main meet will begin on Friday
and conclude on Saturday. Tickets are just $5 for adults and $3 for
students and youth per day, or for the entire championship, tickets may
be purchased for just $10 for adults and $5 for students and youth.
