MWC Weekly Track and Field Awards BYU's Robbie Pratt and Colorado State's Loree Smith win honors
May 3, 2005 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Robbie Pratt of BYU and Loree Smith of Colorado State have been selected as the Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively. MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Robbie Pratt, a native of El Paso, Texas, set a Mountain West Conference and BYU school record as he won the pole vault with a mark of 18'-4.50" at the BYU Invitational, April 28-29. The mark is currently the best in the NCAA and breaks his previous school and MWC record of 18'-2".
WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Loree Smith, a native of Julesburg, Colo., set a Mountain West Conference and Colorado State record in the hammer with a throw of 220'-8" at the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., April 30. She won the event and broke her previous school record of 220'-0". Smith's throw is currently first in the NCAA and is an American collegiate record, breaking Jamine Moton's (Clemson) previous mark of 220'-6" set in 2002.
