April 24, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State senior Rob Watson has been named Mountain West Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, while CSU senior Nicole Feest and TCU junior Virgil Hodge have been named MWC Women's Co-Athletes of the Week. Watson, from London, Ontario, broke the Colorado State school record and turned in the second fastest time in MWC history in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a personal-best time of 8:38.92 at the prestigious Oregon Invitational last week. He crossed the finish line fifth overall and second among collegians. Watson bettered his previous best time by nine seconds as he surpassed Mike Nicks' CSU all-time mark of 8:42.98, set in 2005. Watson's time is currently third best in the nation. Feest, a Lombard, Ill., native, finished third overall and was the top collegian to cross the finish line in the 10,000 meter run at the Oregon Invitational, running an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 34:00.73. Her time is also a CSU school record, breaking the 10-year old record of 34:08.94 set by Sarah Piccolo in 1997. Feest improved her best time by 33 seconds and her mark ranks 21st in the nation so far this season. Hodge won the 100-and 200-meter dash events at the TCU Invitational last Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas. In the 200, her time of 22.81 not only set a Lowdon Track Complex record and earned an NCAA regional qualifying mark, it is also currently ranked as the third-fastest time in the world this season. The Basseterre, St. Kitts, native's, wind-aided time of 11.19 in the 100 is ranked first among wind-aided times in the world this season.
