BYU Hosts Robison Invitational Event to run April 23-26 at the BYU Track and Field Complex.
April 23, 2003 PROVO, Utah - BYU will host the annual Clarence Robison Invitational this week from Wed., April 23 to April 26, at the BYU Track and Field Complex. The No. 14 BYU women and No. 25 BYU men will compete against the University of Utah, Weber State, UVSC, the University of Nevada, the University of Montana and Southern Utah University. The meet will kick off with the decathlon and heptathlon Wednesday and Thursday. The other track and field events will continue Friday and Saturday. The meet will conclude with the 4x400-meter relays at 2:25 p.m. Admission to the meet if free. For a complete list of events see http://www.byutrack.com/Global/Events/event.asp?event_id=10. The Cougar athletes will look to post regional qualifying times and prepare for nationals in Sacramento, Calif. The women's team has already regionally qualified athletes in 10 events and nationally qualified three athletes in the 10,000-meter run. The men have regionally qualified athletes in 13 events.
The Robison Invitational is named in honor of former BYU track athlete and coach Clarence Robison. Robison, who coached at BYU for more than 40 years, was inducted into the United States Coaches Hall of Fame Dec. 7,2002. Next year's invitational will be held April 21 to April 24, 2003.
