BYU's Bolm and SDSU's Stone Share McLeodUSA Mtn. West Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week Honor Utah's Jameson earns athlete of the week on the men's side. (4/11)
April 11, 2000 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU senior Kirsten Bolm and San Diego State senior Felicia Stone were named McLeodUSA Mountain West Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Co-Athletes of the Week, respectively, for their performances last week. Utah sophomore Teren Jameson earned the award on the men's side. Bolm, a native of Scheesel, Germany, tied the school record in the long jump with an NCAA automatic-qualifying leap of 21' 6" at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas. The mark, which earned her second place in the competition, is the best in the Mountain West Conference this season by more than two feet. Bolm also took fourth place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.23, the best mark in the league this year. A native of Sacramento, Calif., Stone set three meet records at the Hayward Relays in Eugene, Ore. She placed first in the 100-meter hurdles with a meet-record time of 13.49. The provisional-qualifying mark ranks as second best in the league this year. As a member of the Aztecs' 4x100-meter relay team, SDSU established a new meet record with a time of 45.77. Stone also ran the opening leg for the 4x400-meter relay team which finished with a time of 3:44.14, the fastest in the league this year and 10th all-time in SDSU history. Jameson, a sophomore from Taylorsville, Utah, established a new conference best in the 800-meters with a time of 1:52.68 at the Wildcat Invitational in Ogden, Utah. Competing in the event for just the second time in his career, Jameson earned a fifth-place finish and moved into seventh place on Utah's all-time top performance list.
