April 5, 2000

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Air Force senior Kevin Griswold and New Mexico freshman Adwoa Gyasi-Nimako were named the McLeodUSA Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for their performances last week.

Griswold, a native of Garden Grove, Calif., established two conference-highs en route to capturing a pair of first-place finishes at Florida State's quadrangular meet in Tallahassee, Fla. He won the 100-Meter dash with a time of 21.13 and the 200-Meter dash with a mark of 47.10. Griswold helped the Falcons earn second-place in the quadrangular.

A native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Gyasi-Nimako broke two school records at the UTEP Springtime Invitational last weekend. She broke a 17-year old record in the 400-Meter dash with a first-place time of 54.49. Gyasi-Nimako teamed up to help break New Mexico's 19-year old 4x100-Meter Relay record with a time of 45.30. She ranks second in the league this season in the 400-Meters, while the Lobos' 4x100-Meter mark is second. All told, she has broken a total of three school records in her first year of collegiate competition.
