COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State swept the season's first Mountain West Conference Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards as senior Liz Toman earned the women's honor and junior Brian Trainor captured the men's honor.

Trainor won both the hammer and discus throw events and placed third in the shot put at the Dr. Dick Terwilliger Classic in Albuquerque, N.M., Mar. 24. A native of La Junta, Colo., Trainor exceeded the NCAA provisional qualifying mark with his throw of 186-feet, 4-inches in the discus. He tossed the hammer a personal-best 168-8 and measured 52-10 3/4 in the shot put. Trainor, who earned All-America honors in the discus last season, leads the Mountain West Conference top performance list in the discus event this season.

Toman provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in both the shot put and the discus after winning the events the Dr. Dick Terwilliger Classic in Albuquerque, N.M., Mar. 24. She tossed the shot put 50-feet, 4-1/2 inches, just a half-inch short of her own school record, and she won the discus event by more than 20 feet with a throw of 169-5 (second place was 147-7). A native of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, Toman has the MWC top performance this season in both the shot put and the discus.

Air Force travels to the Fresno State Invitational, BYU sends a group to the UCLA Invitational and the Stanford Invitational, Colorado State hosts the Rob Upton Invitational, New Mexico travels to the UTEP Springtime Invitational, San Diego State travels to the Florida Relays in Gainesville, and UNLV, Utah and Wyoming travel to the Stanford Invitational.
