MWC Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week TCU's Delwayne Delaney and San Diego State's Karoline Koehler earn their first career weekly honor.
March 27, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU senior Delwayne Delaney and San Diego State sophomore Karoline Koehler have been named Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week. This is the first career weekly honor for both recipients. Delaney took part in two NCAA regional qualifying marks in TCU's first outdoor meet of the season at the Horned Frog Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas. Individually, he ran a career-best and regional qualifying time of 10.29 in the 100-meter dash, finishing second in the event. His time in the 100 is the fourth-best in MWC history, third best in the nation and the best in the conference this season. Delaney then ran the second leg of TCU's 4x400 relay team that placed first with a time of 3:12.21. He also ran the lead leg for the Horned Frogs 4x100 relay squad that earned a regional qualifying mark and placed second with a time of 40.13. Koehler claimed San Diego State's lone event title, while qualifying for the NCAA regionals in the process. She also finished in the top-six in three other events at USC's Trojan Invitational in Los Angeles, Calif., last weekend. She won the long jump with a leap of 20'-4.50" (6.21m). Her mark is not only the second best in SDSU school history, but also ranks fifth all-time in the MWC and is currently the fourth-best in the nation. Koehler also finished sixth in the 100-meter dash (11.98) and ran a personal-best time of 24.71 in the 200-meter dash, while anchoring the 4x100 relay team to an NCAA regional qualifying time of 45.64 for a third place finish.
