March 24, 2009 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU sophomore Mychal Dungey and junior Jessica Young have been selected as the Mountain West Conference men's and women's outdoor track & field athletes of the week, respectively. Dungey led the Flyin' Frog men in the 200-meter dash at the Horned Frog Invitational held in Fort Worth, Texas, last weekend. He finished first collegiately with a regional-qualifying time of 21.13 seconds to lead the league in the event so far this season. The Austin, Texas, native's time is currently the third-fastest on the NCAA performance list. Dungey also competed as a member of the 4x100 relay team, which posted a MWC-leading time of 40.10 seconds last weekend. The time ranks second in the nation and qualifies the team for NCAA regionals. At the same meet, Young clocked a personal-best and NCAA regional-qualifying time of 11.24 seconds to win the women's 100-meter dash, outlasting former TCU teammate and MWC record-holder Virgil Hodge. Her time tops the season MWC and NCAA lists, ranks fourth in all-time program history and positions her for third-place all-time in the Conference record books. From Columbia, S.C., Young also anchored TCU's 4x100 relay team to a first-place finish with a league-leading time of 45.27 seconds. The regional-qualifying performance currently ranks second in the nation. This marks both Dungey and Young's first career outdoor weekly award.
