COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico sophomore Anthony Fairbanks and Air Force senior Olivia Korte have been named Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week. This is the first career weekly honor for Fairbanks and the second for Korte.

Fairbanks, an Albuquerque, N.M., native, finished second in the javelin at the Baldy Castillo Invitational in Tempe, Ariz., last weekend, with a career-best throw of 217'-9.75" (66.39m). His toss is currently the fourth best in the nation and is also a NCAA Midwest Regional Championships automatic qualifying mark. Fairbanks surpassed his previous personal best distance in the event by over four feet.

Korte was the top collegiate finisher in all three of the throwing events she competed in at last weekend's Colorado Potts Invitational in Boulder, Colo. She won the shot put with a toss of 45'-7.75" (13.91m) and also finished first overall in the discus throw (167'-2.00" [50.96m]). Her distance in the discus currently ranks third in the nation. Korte was also the top collegiate finisher (third overall) in the hammer throw with a mark of 156'-2.00" (47.60m).
