The Mountain West Conference had 19 student-athletes earn All-America honors at the 2008 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., last week.

Overall, there were 11 men and eight women All-America honorees. On the men's side, three BYU Cougars earned All-America honors as junior Kyle Perry took third in the 3,000-meter run, junior Keith Jensen placed seventh in the 800-meter run and senior Matt Weirich came in seventh in the pole vault. Wyoming juniors Mark Korir and Jake Shanklin were honored for placing fourth in the 5,000-meter run and 11th in the weight throw, respectively. Jonathan Jackson, a TCU senior, earned the award for his efforts in the triple jump, placing third, while the Horned Frogs 4x400 men's relay team (Che Chavez, Dell Guy, Clemore Henry and Matt Love) finished second to earn an All-America certificate. Colorado State senior Jason Schutz rounded out the pack with a ninth place finish in the weight throw.

San Diego State and TCU topped the women's list with two individuals honored, each. Aztec Senior Karoline Koehler placed third in the triple jump, while sophomore Stephanie Bagan tied for eighth in the pole vault. TCU sophomore Neidra Covington took ninth in the long jump and 14th in the triple jump to earn All-America recognition, while fellow Horned Frog Virgil Hodge earned her sixth All-American award, placing seventh in the 200-meter dash. The BYU distance medley relay team, made up of Carlee Clark-Platt, Stacy Slight, Katie Palmer and Angela Wagner, was awarded for placing fifth.

Since 2000, 119 MWC indoor track and field student-athletes have attained All-American status.
