COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU senior Jackson Langat has been named Mountain West Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, while San Diego State senior Erin Asay and UNLV sophomore Ashley Owens were awarded MWC Women's Track and Field Co-Athlete of the Week honors. This is the first career weekly honor for all three recipients.

Langat, a Kericho, Kenya, native, set a new MWC all-time record individually and was a part of another all-time conference mark set at the Tyson Invitational last weekend in Fayetteville, Ark. On the first day of the meet, he set a new conference record in the 800 meter run, posting a provisional qualifying time of 1:47.86. The time broke Jeremiah Johnson's (Wyoming) previous best time by just under one second and is currently the fourth fastest in the nation Langat then helped TCU's 4x400 relay provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championship by besting BYU's conference record time of 3:11.60 by over three seconds (3:08.14) on the way to a third place finish.

Asay, from San Diego, Calif., brought home the individual title in the pole vault at the Albuquerque Invitational last weekend. Her career-best vault of 14'-0.50" (4.28m) set a new MWC and San Diego State school standard, eclipsing former teammate Shayla Balentine's record of 14'-0.00" (4.27m) on both lists. Asay's mark also garnered her automatic qualification to the NCAA Championships and is currently the third best vault in the nation.

Owens, a Colorado Springs, Colo., product, set a new Mountain West conference record, as well as a UNLV indoor record in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.25 (7.27 altitude adjusted time) at the Albuquerque Invitational. Her time is currently the fifth best time in the nation, as well as being an automatic qualifying mark.
