COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Wyoming sophomore Jake Shanklin and senior Shannon Popp have been named Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively.

Shanklin, from Ellensburg, Wash., set a career-best and NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the weight throw at the Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo., last weekend. His throw of 64'-4.50" (19.62m) ranks as the ninth best in Wyoming school history, as well as the second-best mark in the conference this season and 24th best in the nation so far this year.

Popp, an Ojai, Calif., native, also broke into the Pokes' weight throw record books as she tossed a personal best distance at the Air Force Invite. Her mark of 62'-5.00" (19.02m) is tops in the MWC this season and is the seventh best ever at Wyoming. The provisional qualifying distance also ranks 22nd in the nation.
