Mountain West Announces Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week - January 15, 2013

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Air Force sophomore Joey Uhle and New Mexico senior Amber Menke have earned Mountain West Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors for meets contested from Jan. 11-14. Uhle, a native of Powell, Ohio, won the pole vault at the Air Force All-Comers Meet on Jan. 12 in Colorado Springs. His career-best vault of 17'-2.75' (5.40m) ranks second in the Mountain West and 11th in the NCAA. Uhle became the 13th vaulter in Falcons history to clear the 17-foot barrier indoors. The mark is a five-inch personal improvement for Uhle. A native of Albuquerque, N.M., Menke returned to competition after redshirting the 2012 outdoor season and won the pole vault at the Lumberjack Team Challenge in Flagstaff, Ariz., with a vault of 12'-8.25'' (3.87m). The vault is the top mark in the Mountain West and ranks 23rd in the NCAA. Menke was the only New Mexico participant to win an event at the Lumberjack Team Challenge.
