June 27, 2009
EUGENE, Ore. - Jessica Young clocked the 12th-fastest time in the world on Friday night to place seventh overall in the 100 meters at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Young blazed to a personal-best time of 11.06 seconds to cross the finish line in seventh-place at Hayward Field. Her wind-aided time, which would have crushed the previous school record, was the fastest time recorded by a TCU female sprinter since 2006. In the semifinals, the four-time All-American placed fourth in heat No. 1 with a time of 11.06 to qualify for the finals. Former Flyin' Frog great Khadevis Robinson also had a stellar outing on Friday night, finishing second overall in the men's 800 meters with a time of 1:47.66 to qualify for Sunday's final.
Young will continue action today in Eugene with first round action of the 200 meters.
