AUSTIN, Texas - Colorado State junior Loree Smith placed sixth in the hammer and senior John Woods finished eighth in the 200 meters and both earned All-American honors at the 2004 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship. Freshman Magnus Lohse finished 10th in the shot put to round out the championship for the Rams.

Smith threw 208-4 on her fifth throw, but it was not enough as Florida junior Candice Scott successfully defended her title throwing 225-10.

Woods ran a 20.85 in the finals of the 200 meters, becoming the first Colorado State sprinter on the men's side to win All-American status since Dan Columbus in 1968 and only the third All-American in the men's 200 (Alex Burl 1954 - 220 yards). Wallace Spearmon, a freshman from Arkansas won the race in 20.12.

Lohse, on his third and final throw in the shot put, threw 59-3 to finish 10th. Nebraska senior Carl Myerscough won the event with a throw of 67-8.75 and was the top ranked shot putter all season.

Smith, along with four former CSU standouts will be in Sacramento July 9-18 at the USA Olympic Trials.
