SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Under sun-kissed skies at the Alex G. Spanos Athletic Complex, TCU earned its first All-America honors of NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday, as the women's 400-meter relay team placed fourth.

"To get fourth in the race, I was quite pleased," head coach Darryl Anderson said. "I thought we ran extremely well, we moved the sticks pretty well and it was a pretty steady run for us."

The veteran relay team comprised of seniors Kandis Bell, Jamee Jones, Deborah Jones and junior Virgil Hodge clocked its second-fastest time of the year with a mark of 43.84. With the fourth-place finish, TCU's women's team got on the scoreboard with five points en route to earning TCU's second-best finish in the event and best since placing third in 1998.

Winning the event was Texas A&M, who logged a winning time of 43.05. The Aggies were followed by LSU (43.14) and Southern California (43.69).

The All-America honor for the Flyin' Frogs marked the seventh straight season that either an individual or relay team from the women's side has earned All-America honors at the outdoor championships. The All-America honor was also TCU's fourth all-time in the event and first since a seventh-place finish in 2004.

TCU's day began on the right foot with Jonathan Jackson qualifying for Saturday's final in the triple jump with a leap of 51-04.50 (15.66m). Jackson's leap placed him eighth overall with the top 12 jumpers advancing to the final. Jackson will be making his second straight appearance in the triple jump final after finishing 10th at the 2006 outdoor championships.

TCU concluded its day with Nathandra John and Deborah Jones competing in the semifinals of the 400 meters. Running in lane No. 1 John finished 11th with a season-best time of 52.70. Jones finished 16th with a time of 53.66.

TCU will open the final day at the NCAA Championships at 12:00 p.m. CT on Saturday with Jonathan Jackson competing in the finals of the triple jump. Also competing for TCU will be Virgil Hodge in the final of the 200 meters at 12:58 p.m. Saturday's competition will also be televised live by CBS, beginning at 12:00 p.m. CT.
