BATON ROUGE, La. - Colorado State University's Julie Gunzel finished 16th late Friday night in the discus at the NCAA Track and Field Championships being hosted by LSU.

Gunzel, a senior from Payson, Ariz., had a top throw of 158 feet, 8 inches. She was one of two Rams competing in the event. Loree Smith, a sophomore from Julesburg, Colo., had earlier in the week finished 21st in the hammer throw, fouled on her throws.

Meg Larson will compete Saturday night in the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase event. She qualified for the finals during a preliminary heat Thursday night.
