LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming distance runner Joe Hall finished 18th in the 10,000-meter run Wednesday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships held in Eugene, Ore.

Hall had a time of 31:32.33 in the field of 19 runners. Hall entered the event with the 18th-best time in the country. The event was won by Ryan Shay of Notre Dame who had a time of 29:05.44. Hall, from Buffalo, Wyo., finishes his career as one of the top distance runners in UW history.

"Joe ran a solid race," said Wyoming head coach Don Yentes. "It was a very talented field and the times they ran show that. But this was a good ending to an outstanding career for Joe. For him to be able to compete in an event like this after all of his hard work is just fitting."

Wyoming has three other individuals who will be competing at the championships. Jason Hammond will compete in the hammer on Thursday while Jason Gervais will compete in the discus and Andrea Batt will compete in the javelin on Friday.
