FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State freshman Katie Lloyd leads the field after day one at the Glenn Morris Heptathlon, while Wyoming's Bret Zowada leads the decathlon field.

Lloyd has a first day point total of 3010, just 22 points ahead of her coach Lindsey Malmgren with 2888. Fellow freshmen Tonya Cure is in fourth with 2537 points and Kelly Marquardt is in seventh with a total of 1966.

Freshman Kevin Johnson is in fifth in the decathlon with 2846 points after fouling all three of his attempts in the shot put.

Lloyd recorded personal bests in the high jump, shot put and 200 meters, while Cure had personal bests in the shot put and the 200 and Marquardt tallied career-bests in the 100 hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200 meters. The multi-events will conclude tomorrow with events beginning at 10:30 a.m. Next weekend the Rams will compete in the Modrall Sperling Don Kirby Invitational, hosted by the University of New Mexico.
