Wyoming Track and Field Team Competes at Pomona-Pitzer Invite Senior Jason Gervais automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the discus.

LARAMIE, Wyo. -
Wyoming senior Jason Gervais automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the discus Friday at the Pomona-Pitzer Invite. Gervais had a throw of 198-3 to place second in the event. Freshman Jason Delaney had his best time of the year in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:34.75. That time was good for 14th-place in the event. Shane Rasby placed 11th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.02. In the 800-meter run Laramie native Greg Schabron placed 26th with a time of 1:57.74. Rounding out the meet for the Cowboys was Karal Davis, who finished 16th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.31. For the Cowgirls Kim Demers placed eighth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.76. Sophomore Kelly Ann Charles had a time of 14.34 in the 100-meter hurdles, good for 6th place. In the 100-meter dash Fiona Lindo-Jeffrey placed 16th clocking in at 12.30. "It was a good start to a busy weekend for us," said Wyoming head coach Don Yentes. "We had some strong performances and especially impressive was Gervais'. He automatically qualified and is looking better and better all the time. We have a number of athletes competing over the weekend and we'll look for some excellent performances from them." The Cowboys and Cowgirls will remain in California over the weekend to
compete in the Mt. SAC Relays Saturday and Sunday.
