Gourdin Breaks School, Track and Invitational Heptathlon Records Colorado State senior Crissy Gourdin broke the Colorado State, Jack Christiansen Track and Glenn Morris Multi Meet records today with her two-day total of 5,251 points in the heptathlon.
April 22, 2005 FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Colorado State senior Crissy Gourdin broke the Colorado State, Jack Christiansen Track and Glenn Morris Multi Meet records today with her two-day total of 5,251 points in the heptathlon. She won the event by 100 points over Colorado State sophomore Katie Lloyd, who posted an NCAA Provisional qualifying and personal best mark of 5,151 points. The decathlon was won by Josh Oberleas, competing unattached. He scored 5,941 over the 10 events. Matt Gensic of Air Force was second with 5,588 points, while Phillip Thomas and Eric Suter of Wyoming placed third and fourth, respectively. Gourdin began the day with a leap of 17-0.75 in the long jump, then threw a personal best 127-8 in the javelin to win the event and finished the competition with a personal best and winning time of 2:20.99 in the 800 meters. Lloyd jumped 18-8.75 in the long jump, then threw the javelin 114-6 and ran a 2:29.23 to conclude the day with 5,151 points. Freshman Emily Pearson placed third with a personal best total of 4,772 points. She long jumped 16-2.25, which is a career-best, then threw 126-2 in the javelin -- also a personal best and ended the day, crossing the tape in 2:27.83. Fellow freshman Ashleigh Morton rounded out the top four sweep for the Rams with a career best total of 4,424 points. She long jumped 17-0.5 to start the day, then threw 117-7 in the javelin and concluded the competition running a 2:37.12 for a personal best. Colorado State will host the seventh annual Jack Christiansen Invitational on Saturday. Events begin at 9:00 with the men's hammer. Running events get underway with the women's steeplechase at 11:30.
