San Diego State’s Casillan Named Mountain West Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week

Sophomore swims league's fastest 100 backstroke.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State sophomore Meghan Casillan was named the Mountain West Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week for her performance last weekend at the Speedo Cup in Long Beach, Calif.

Casillan, a native of Huntington Beach, Calif., native, swam to second-place finishes in the 100 and 200 back. Her time of 57.54 in the 100 established a new conference-best, while her time of 2:05.82 in the 200 ranks third-best in the league this season. Casillan also swam the backstroke leg of the Aztecs’ 200 and 400 medley relay teams which finished 11th and sixth, respectively. The Speedo Cup featured 24 teams, including No. 4 USC, No. 14 UCLA and No. 21 Nevada.
