Air Force sophomore Chris Knaute has been named Mountain West Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week. Knaute is a two-time award winner this season.

Knaute, from Houston, Texas, had an outstanding performance at the Speedo Cup Invitational last week in Long Beach, Calif. Along with swimming the second-fastest times in Academy history in the 500 and 1650-yard freestyles, he provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships and swam season-best times in two other races. On Thursday, Knaute clocked a season-best time of 4:25.61 in the 500 free and followed on Friday with a season-best finish of 3:55.58 in the 400-yard individual medley. On Saturday, his time of 15:21.40 in the 1650 free provisionally qualified him for the NCAA Championships in March. Knaute's performance helped the Air Force men to a fourth place finish at the Speedo Cup.
