COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State senior Hannah Ryan and Wyoming freshman Saara Haapanen have been named Mountain West Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the week, respectively. This is the first career weekly honor for Ryan and the second for Haapanen.

Ryan, a Sonoma, Calif., native, helped the Aztecs to their first conference victory of the season over New Mexico last weekend, bringing home two individual victories, a second-place individual finish and helping the 200 freestyle relay team to a win. She started her meet off with a win in the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:53.16. Ryan also won the 500 freestyle, clocking in at a career-best 4:59.41. Her career-best time beat her previous best by four seconds, was the fourth-best time in the history of the Aztec program and is the second-best time in the MWC this season. She also had a career-best finish in the 50 freestyle (24.97), finishing in second-place before capping off the meet in helping the 200 freestyle relay squad to a victory (1:39.28).

Haapanen, a Thunder Bay, Ontario, product, swept both diving events in a non-conference dual meet against Denver last weekend. She turned in a career-high score of 252.50 in the 1-meter dive and scored 243.90 to win the 3-meter dive. Haapanen's score in the 1-meter is the third highest in the MWC this season, while her 3-meter score is sixth best in the conference.
