Utah's Demchuk And Byu's Jones Named Mountain West Conference Women's Swimmer And Diver Of The Week

Nov. 12, 2003 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah sophomore Meghan Demchuk and BYU freshman Melinda Jones have been named Mountain West Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the week, respectively. This is the first career weekly honor for both recipients. Demchuk helped Utah to conference wins over San Diego State and UNLV last weekend, winning three individual events and helping the Utes to two relay victories. In Utah's 133-98 win over SDSU on Nov. 7, she was part of the 200 medley relay squad that touched the end line in 1:47.28. Demchuk also won the 200 freestyle in 1:55.37. Against UNLV on Nov. 8, she tallied victories in the 200 butterfly (2:07.38), the 200 individual medley (2:08.86) and helped the 400 medley relay team to a win (3:52.98).
Jones swept both diving events against the Aztecs and Rebels last weekend, helping the Cougars go 1-1. Against UNLV on Nov. 7, she tallied a score of 161.05 in the 1-meter and a score of 153.80 in the 3-meter. On Nov. 8 against SDSU, she scored 165.40 in the 1-meter dive and 165.95 in the 3-meter dive, completing her weekend sweep.
