BYU’s Savickas and Wyoming's Delgado Named MWC Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week

Sophomore diver Delgado earns honor for second time.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – BYU’s Arunas Savickas and Wyoming’s Oscar Delgado were named the Mountain West Conference’s Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the week, respectively.

Savickas, a junior from Panevezys, Lithuania, swept all three events he competed in as BYU defeated Utah 150-93 this past weekend. In the 200 free, his time of 1:40.57 beat the field by nearly five seconds. The 1998 WAC Swimmer of the Year also captured the 100 free with a conference-best time of 45.93. Savickas led his 400-Medley relay team to a first-place time of 3:27.35.

Delgado, a sophomore from Covina, Calif., earned Diver of the Week honors for the second straight week as he won both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Diving competitions in Wyoming’s 122-121 victory against Air Force. In the 1-Meter event, Delgado’s score of 278.93 was 48.83 points higher than the second-place finisher. In the 3-Meter competition, Delgado cruised to the first-place finish with a score of 278.33, 37.73 points ahead of the next diver.
