COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Wyoming junior Gene Birks and Utah junior Sterling Richards have been named Mountain West Conference Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively. This is the second career honor for Birks and the third for Richards.

Birks, a Byron Bay, Australia, native, won two individual events and a relay in Wyoming's dual meet win over Denver last week. Birks followed with victories in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, clocking in at 21.17 and 49.96, respectively. His time in the 100 butterfly was also a Corbett Pool record.

Richards, from Woods Cross, Utah, brought home first-place finishes in the 1-meter and 3-meter board events in Utah's conference dual meet vs. UNLV. He won the 1-meter event with a score of 289.43, which was 77.18 points ahead of the second-place finisher. In the 3-meter, Richards scored 265.63 for the victory.
