BYU's Savickas and Wyoming's Delgado MWC Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week Honors Savickas captured 200-meter freestyle, the 100-meter freestyle and 500-meter freestyle at the Big West Shootout.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU senior Arunas Savickas and University of Wyoming junior Oscar Delgado have been selected as the Mountain West Conference men's swimmer and diver of the week, respectively. At the Big West Shootout Nov. 3-4, in Irvine, Calif., Savickas earned six 1st-place honors and one 2nd-place award. The senior from Panevezy, Lithuania placed first in each of his individual events: 200-meter freestyle (1:37.70, 1:38.78), the 100-meter freestyle (45.26) and the 500-meter freestyle (4:26.54). In the relay events, Savickas was a member of the victorious 200-meter medley team and 400-meter freestyle relay team with times of 1:33.40 and 3:05.36, respectively. Although the 400-meter medley relay team finished in second place, the Cougars currently lead the conference for the fastest time in that event (3:24.61). Lately, Savickas is no stranger to being number one. His times at the Big West Shootout lead the conference in three individual events and three team events. Competing against Metro State Nov. 4, Delgado swept the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events with scores of 274.12 and 268.35, respectively. This is the second time this season the Covina, Calif., native has earned athlete of the week honors. His consistent performance on the board enabled the Cowboys to crush Metro State 126-62. On Deck: The Cougars idle until Nov. 25 when they host UNLV and Wyoming hits the pool again Nov. 17 against Denver.
Other MWC Schools in action this week: Air Force travels to the Minnesota Invite and UNLV also heads to the Midwest to compete in the Husker Shootout in Lincoln, Neb. Both Invitationals are Nov. 17-19.
