UNLV's Diaconescu and BYU's Einfeldt Named MWC Women's Swimmer And Diver of the Week Diaconescu captured 200-meter freestyle and the 500-meter freestyle against No. 19 Arizona State.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV junior Lorena Diaconescu and Brigham Young University sophomore Kelli Einfeldt have been selected as the Mountain West Conference women's swimmer and diver of the week, respectively. Despite a loss at No. 19 Arizona State, Oct. 27, Diaconescu finished first in both individual events she competed in: the 200-meter freestyle and the 500-meter freestyle. Hailing from Bucharest, Romania, Diaconescu swam anchor for the 2nd-place finishing 400-meter medley relay team, which was the first Rebel squad to finish. The junior's strong performance contributed over thirty percent of her team's final score in the meet. Against in state rival Utah, Oct. 27, Einfeldt won both the 1- and 3-meter diving competition. In the 1-meter competition, the sophomore from Salt Lake City, Utah, beat the 2nd- place finisher by over 18 points. Her strong effort on the board helped ensure a team victory for BYU. Coming Up: UNLV hits the pool Nov. 10 to host Utah, while BYU is back in action this Friday, Nov. 3 at the Big West Shootout in Irvine, Calif.
Other MWC schools in action this week: Colorado State heads across town to take on the University of Northern Colorado, Thursday, Nov. 2, they then host Nebraska, Sunday, Nov. 5. Utah hosts Oregon State Nov. 3 and 4. San Diego State travels to Northern Arizona while Wyoming hosts Metro State, Saturday, Nov. 4.
