COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State University senior Sandy Leaycraft and Air Force Academy sophomore Sarah Law have been selected as the 2000-01 season's first Mountain West Conference women's swimmer and diver of the week, respectively.

Competing at the Early Bird Invitational in Ft. Collins, Colo., Oct. 21, Leaycraft led the Rams to the team title for the third consecutive year. The Estes Park, Colo., native broke two meet records and won the 200-meter freestyle for the fourth consecutive year with a time of 1:54.10. She earned 1st-place in the 500-meter freestyle and was a member of the 1st-place 400- and 800-meter freestyle relay team. Two days earlier against Fresno State and conference rival New Mexico, Leaycraft won all three of her individual events. She currently holds the top times in four different events in the MWC. Leaycraft started with a strong performance in 1999 as well, earning the season's inaugural MWC swimming athlete of the week honors.

Law, hailing from Parker, Colo., also earned inaugural MWC athlete of the week honors two years straight. At this year's Early Bird Invitational, Law won both the 1- and 3-meter diving competition. In the 3-meter event, the sophomore dominated her competitors by scoring 44 points above the 2nd-place finisher and contributed 40 points to the Falcons team score.

Up Next: Colorado State faces University of Northern Colorado, Nov. 2, while Air Force is back in action this weekend against Colorado School of Mines, Oct. 28.

Other MWC schools in action this week: BYU and Utah match up in Provo, while UNLV travels to Tempe, Ariz., to take on Arizona State. Both meets are Friday, Oct. 27.
