Rempfer And Delgado Earn MWC Men's Swimmer And Diver of the Week Accolades Delgado garners honor for seventh time in his career.
Oct. 24, 2001 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah freshman Cody Rempfer and Wyoming senior Oscar Delgado have been named Mountain West Conference men's swimmer and diver of the week, respectively. In the first collegiate meet of his career, Rempfer claimed first place in three individual events and set a new meet record at last weekend's Colorado State Early Bird Invitational in Fort Collins. The Lodi, Calif. native finished first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 51.95 and the 200-yard butterfly in 1:52.87, breaking the previous meet record by almost two seconds. He also finished first in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:11.62. Delgado started off his senior season in impressive fashion by sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard diving events at the Early Bird Invitational. On the 1-meter, Delgado posted a score of 285.20 and on the 3-meter turned in a score of 280.40. This is the California native's seventh MWC Diver of the Week award of his career. Utah returns to action on Friday, Nov. 2 when they host BYU. The Cowboy's also return to action on Nov. 2, hosting South Dakota at Corbett Pool.
This week in the MWC: The Air Force Academy will host Colorado State in a dual meet on Friday, Oct. 26 and then face Metro State on Sunday, Oct. 28. New Mexico travels to Flagstaff, Ariz to go up against Northern Arizona on Saturday, Oct. 27.
