COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference announced the 2001 Academic All-Conference team for men's and women's swimming and diving today. To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and be a starter or significant contributor to the team.

A total of 146 student-athletes earned MWC academic honors in 2000-01, including 86 women and 60 men. BYU led the way with 34 honorees, followed by Air Force with 27, UNLV with 24, Wyoming with 17, Colorado State with 15, New Mexico with 13, Utah with 12 and San Diego State with four. Sixty-six student-athletes earned Academic All-MWC honors for the second straight year.
