COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America announced its Academic All-Americans for 2003 and several Mountain West Conference student-athletes were recognized on the list. Student-athletes must have a 3.5 GPA, while teams must maintain at least a 2.8 GPA to earn CSCAA Academic All-America recognition.

The Utah women's swim team (3.25 GPA) and both the BYU men's (3.28 GPA) and women's (3.16 GPA) swim teams made the team Academic All-American list, while nine Mountain West Conference student-athletes were honored as individual Academic All-Americans.

Two MWC student-athletes, Randy Belliston and Aaron Russell of BYU, were named Academic All-Americans, while seven others were honorable mention selections: Utah's Loren Sweny and Kristin Kaiser, and BYU's Brent Parker, Chris Johnson, William Betz, John Malfatt and Kelli Einfeldt.

Including the nine academic award winners for swimming, the Mountain West had 27 student-athletes named to 2002-03 Academic All-America Teams.
