LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming junior Scott Usher competed at the 2004 Grand Prix in College Station, Texas last Saturday and Sunday, May 22-23. The meet was held at the Texas A&M Natatorium.

Usher, a Grand Island, Neb. native, placed second in the 100 meter breaststroke on Sunday with a time of 1:03.44. Ed Moses, the American record holder in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes, won the event in a time of 1:03.09.

Friday, Usher placed fifth in the 200 meter breaststroke after turning in a time of 2:18.63. He also competed in the 200 IM, where he swam to a time of 2:22.07.

"Scott had a great meet in a very talented field," said UW head coach Tom Johnson. "I am very pleased with his continued progress. He was coming off of a week of very tough training as we were at the Olympic training center in Colorado Springs all of last week. He raced very well and it was a nice step as we get ready for the upcoming Olympic Trials in July."

Usher will return to action June 11-14 as he competes in the Janet Evans Invitational in Long Beach, Calif. The meet will be held at the site of the Olympic Trials. The Olympic Trials will run July 7-14.
