LAS VEGAS - UNLV men's golfer Ryan Moore and men's swimmer Joe Bartoch have been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII University Division Men's At-Large Team as selected by sports information directors.

Moore, who was recently presented with the 2005 Ben Hogan Award, honoring him as the nation's top collegiate golfer, is a three-time All-American and two-time Mountain West Conference Golfer of the Year. He is currently the nation's top-ranked golfer and leads the country in scoring average at 69.08.

Moore, a senior, played in this year's Masters and was the low amateur, tying for 13th. The Puyallup, Wash., native is a three-time All-MWC Academic Team member and holds a cumulative grade point average of 3.27 with a major in communications (emphasis in public relations).

Bartoch, a junior and a member of the first MWC championship swim team at UNLV, won the 100 fly at the MWC Championships in a record time of 47.30. He also finished third in the 100 free and fourth in the 50 free.

Bartoch, a native of London, Ontario, Canada, was also a member of the 200 and 400 free, and 200 medley relay teams that finished first, with two relays setting conference records. He is a three-time All-America honorable mention, finishing 13th in the 200 free and 400 medley relays and 16th in the 400 free relay at the NCAA Championships.

This season, he was named the MWC Swimmer of the Week twice and was also named the Collegeswimming.com Swimmer of the Week. He was the 2004 U.S. Open 100 fly champion and finished 16th in the 100 fly at the 2004 World Short Course Championships. He also competed at the 2003 World University Games.

Bartoch, a 2003-04 All-MWC Academic Team member, carries a cumulative GPA of 3.35 with a major in physical education.

Both Moore and Bartoch will now be placed on the ballot for the Academic All-America Team.
