CSU Adds Three Signing period continues until May 1.
April 20, 2004 FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Both the Colorado State swimming & diving team and the water polo team each signed three student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Swimming & Diving Head Coach John Mattos announced the signing of Elyse Hall from Mesa, Arizona, Karin Knudson from Estes Park, Colorado and Mary Margaret Quintana from Denver, Colorado. The three are all divers and will enroll at Colorado State in the fall of 2004. Mattos also announced his first three signings in the sport of water polo, which competes for the first time in the 2004-05 academic year. Marisa Fernandez from Grass Valley, California and Sierra College, Emily McCullough from Alamo, California and Analise Quinn from Salt Lake City, Utah will also enroll in the fall of 2004. Elyse Hall, Mesa, Arizona (Dobson HS) Finished second at the 2003 East Regional Championships for Dobson HS and competes for the Sun Devil Divers Club Team where she placed ninth in the 3-meter and 10th in the 1-meter at the Winter Junior Region 9 Championships one year ago. "Elyse is probably one of the top divers in the nation and we are looking for her to quite rapidly fill the shoes of graduated Lori Vigil," said Mattos. "We think she can do an exceptional job here at Colorado State." Karin Knudson, Estes Park, Colorado (Estes Park HS) Won the Colorado 4A State Championship in the 1-meter and was third in the 50-meter freestyle. The younger sister of former Ram All-Conference and All-Academic performer Kristin Knudson. Was named to the 2004 All-Colorado girls swimming team by Rocky Mountain News. "Karin is the 4A State Champion in the one-meter board," stated Mattos. "She is a tremendous athlete and has double potential as she finished third at state in the 50 meter freestyle, which is a real interesting combination. She has outstanding diving skills and great potential." Mary Margaret Quintana, Denver, Colorado (Northglenn HS) Finished 11th at the Front Range League Championship and finished in the top 16 at the state championship. Quintana is relatively unknown in the state even though she's a state qualifier and did place in the top 16 in state," Mattos said. "She has a lot of potential and I'm very please with the addition of her to our program." Marisa Fernandez, Grass Valley, California (Sierra College) Two-Time Community College All-American, All-Northern California First Team, All-State Team selections. "Marisa is an outstanding athlete who brings a wealth of experience and a lot of knowledge to our program," Mattos stated. "I'm excited about her skills and also her maturity." Emily McCullough, Alamo, California (Monte Vista HS) All-North Coast Second Team selection as a senior at Monte Vista HS. "Emily is going to be a real star in our program," said Mattos. "She is an outstanding water polo player out of high school and we are expecting great things from her." Analise Quinn, Salt Lake City, Utah (Skyline HS) Salt Lake Tribune All-State Girls First Team selection. Finished third at the Utah State Championship in the 500 freestyle as well. "Annie got some great experience on a foreign tour last year, playing on an international trip to Russia," Mattos said. "She is a good solid athlete with good experience."
The signing period continues until May 1 for both men's and women's basketball and until August 1 for all the other sports except football.
