ATLANTA -
University of Utah senior Sterling Richards placed 10th in the 3-meter dive preliminaries at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Atlanta, Ga., Friday. Richards, who scored a 328.55, missed making the finals by two places and just 4.65 points. The day before, Richards became Utah's first-ever first-team All-America diver by placing fifth on the 1-meter board. His finish in the preliminaries of the 3-meter competition will add to the 14 points he scored for the Utes on Mar. 23, but the exact total and Utah's final placing will not be known until the conclusion of the championships Saturday night.
