Cougars Travel to NCAA Championships Championships March 25-27 in Long Island, N.Y.
March 24, 2004 LONG ISLAND, N.Y. - Three members of the No. 19 ranked BYU men's swimming and diving team are traveling to Long Island, N.Y. to compete at the 2004 NCAA swimming and diving championships March 25-27. Diogo Yabe will be competing in the 200 IM, 200 free and 100 free, while Zach Anderson will be competing in the 500 and 200 free and the mile. Justin Beardall will be competing in the 1- and 3-meter springboard competitions. Men's swimming coach Tim Powers said both Yabe and Anderson have been training hard the past two weeks and expects both swimmers to do well. "Yabe injured his shoulder during the MWC meet," Powers said. "But he's feeling better now, and Zach has been working hard. We're hopeful that both will be able to place."
Beardall qualified for the NCAA championship meet by placing fourth
in the 1-meter and seventh in the 3-meter at the Zone E competition
held earlier this month in Oklahoma City.
