McCain places 23rd in 1-meter diving event at NCAA Championships Senior will conclude brilliant career Friday on the 3-meter board
March 23, 2006 ATLANTA - With a six-dive score of 273.30, TCU senior men's diver Kelly McCain finished 23rd on the 1-meter springboard at the 2006 NCAA Diving Championships in Atlanta, Ga. McCain, the first Horned Frog male diver to ever qualify for the NCAA Championships, is making his second straight appearance at the national meet. McCain, a first-team all-Mountain West Conference performer, was just 13 points behind 16th position and 20 points out of the 11th position in a tightly contested preliminary. He averaged a 45.55 over his six dives, with his best effort receiving a score of 55.80. McCain, the school record holder in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, will complete his career Friday on the 3-meter at the championships.
