MINNEAPOLIS -- The BYU men's swim and dive team finished the the NCAA Championships with 23 points and placed 26th overall. The Cougars had five All-Americans and set three records during the Championships held at the University of Minnesota.

"We brought five guys to the Championships and ended up bringing five All-Americans back," said BYU men's head swim coach Tim Powers. "We were the only team from the Mountain West Conference to score points at the Championships. The guys did well all year and I was really proud of how they finished."

In Saturday's competition the Cougars competed in the 400 free relay and placed 15th with a time of 2:57.50. Brett Allen, Jorge Azevedo, Chris Patience and Travis Price made up the relay squad and earlier in the prelims they turned in a time of 2:56.36 that set a Mountain West Conference record and qualified them for the finals.

"We were All-American in both our relays, the 50 free and the 3-meter dive," said Coach Powers. "That and placing 26th overall is something to be really proud of. We haven't placed that high in a long time."
