COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Two members of the BYU women's swimming team are preparing to compete at the NCAA Championships at Texas A&M March 18-20.

Freshman Brittany Davis has qualified in the 500 free and the 100 and 200 backstroke, while senior Nikki Xanthos will be competing in the 100 breast.

Women's head coach Stan Crump said he is pleased with both swimmers, but especially with Xanthos because of all she has gone through. Crump said Xanthos has had two knee surgeries and a bout with Carbon Monoxide poisoning over her career at BYU.

"I'm proud of Nikki," Crump said. "I don't know if I've ever had an athlete go through as much as she has and still swim so well. And I don't think she's swam as fast as she can yet."

Crump also said Davis, the MWC champion in the 500 free and 200 back, has been swimming well the past week and he expects her to do well at the NCAA Championships.

Davis will be competing all three days of the meet with the 500 free on Thursday, the 100 back on Friday and the 200 back on Saturday, while Xanthos will compete in the 100 breast on Friday.
