Horned Frog divers complete action at NCAA Zone D Regional Freshman Hesselberg places among top 10 in three events
March 13, 2006 COLUMBIA, Mo. -- TCU men's divers R.J. Hesselberg and Kelly McCain and women's diver Kelly Seely have completed their competitions at the Zone D Diving Regional in Columbia, Mo. Hesselberg placed among the top 10 in three events, McCain landed in the top 10 twice and Seely earned one top-10 finish. Hesselberg, a freshman from Saskatoon, Canada, scored a 506.10 on the platform to earn a bronze-medal placement, the best effort by a Horned Frog diver over the weekend. In addition, he placed sixth on both the 1-meter springboard (533.05) and 3-meter board (570.50) to complete an impressive first regional. McCain, a senior who in 2005 became the first male diver in school history to advance to the NCAA Championships, had his best finish (6th) on the 1-meter with a score of 622.80. Earlier, the Corpus Christi, Texas, native posted a 521.55 on the 3-meter to place eighth. Seely, a five-time Mountain West Conference Diver of the Week during the season, snagged 10th place on the 3-meter with a score of 530.80.
